Here is an awesome story currently on the front page of CNN. The gist: stay-at-home wives – no jobs, no kids, and both wife and husband are 100-percent content.
What do you think – dream or disaster? What if your fiancé wanted to be a stay-at-home husband? – Timothy R. Schulte

One of my favorite things to do when a new CB2 catalog comes is to go through it and circle with a Sharpie all the things I’d like to have in my home. Kinda like what I did with the toys in the Sears catalog when I was a kid. Page nine of the current (back to cool) catalog got two circles. Here’s a screen shot of that page.

First item of lust is the lubi daybed, which kinda resembles one of those orangeish couches you’d find in Ari Gold’s office on “Entrourage” (here and here). With longish curly hair and an old-school silverback (non-3G) iPhone, I could just as easily be that dude in the picture.
Second item of lust is the recycled tin mirror. As our Warholian header shows, Nuptialisms likes pop art, so the mirror’s design plays right to our tastes. And speaking of Warhol, these Marilyn plates are perfect for parties, too. – Timothy R. Schulte

So, in the midst of uncluttering my desk, I discovered something I’ve been meaning to write about. I went to a wedding a couple weeks ago, and the photographers passed out these little senior-picture-sized photos that, well, advertised the business on the front, but the back had a little note that listed the URL where all the wedding photos would be posted and the date they would appear, which I’m sure saves the bride and groom and their families the trouble of fielding questions about photos and e-mailing links (although I did get one of those). Something to ask your photog about.
Here’s a picture of the picture of the picture atop a stack of business cards.

With the best record in baseball (as of today), the Cubs have been flying the “W” flag in center field quite a bit this season. And while that “W” signifies each tallied win, for the nuptially minded it could serve as a reminder that the Friendly Confines just might be the perfect place to have a wedding. Wrigley’s two venus, the Stadium Club and Batter’s Eye suite, can host anywhere from a few dozen to a few hundred. Menu options can range from fancy (filet) to fitting (hot dogs), and as an added bonus, you even get your name on the marquee. – Timothy R. Schulte

A few weeks back we had a story about how much is too much when sending out your invites (which you can read here). Having just gotten back in from an extra-long wedding weekend in Richmond, Va., I can attest to the importance of directions and maps.

The invites and the couple’s Web site were great for supplying info and directions, but that did not prevent the Internet mapping service from spewing out skewed directions from the airport (thanks, construction!), nor does it guarantee that everyone who gets behind the wheel knows where to go … Let’s just say that the Maps feature on my iPhone got a ton of use over the weekend. Navigation issues aside, the ceremony was lovely and it was great to see the family and friends I don’t see too often, and isn’t that always the best part of a wedding?
Here’s a few headlines to make up for lost time:
TheStreet.com has a feature on DIY weddings.
This Forbes story may help you navigate office etiquette when it comes to your invites.
The Boston Globe has green wedding tips.
Baltimore Sun readers tell their cake tales.
A Sydney couple became the first to wed atop the Harbour Bridge.

The global food crisis is affecting the wedding industry, too, as skyrocketing fuel costs may give even the smallest amuse bouche an entree-sized price tag. Here’s what one caterer told the Canadian Press:
… with “delivery costs from suppliers going through the roof,” Nicole Pieckenhagen, director of Toronto’s Couture Cuisine Event Artistry, a catering firm, says she has been forced to send her clients letters to say “it would be adding a food crisis levy to bills in order to maintain product quality.”
Couples with a longer-term engagement, though, may benefit from having already locked into a contract with their caterer.
“We booked the caterer in January 2007 after Chantel became engaged,” says her mother of Waterdown, Ont., near Hamilton. “We gave a deposit and were assured that even if the prices go up we were locked into a contract.”

Caladesi Island State Park in Clearwater/Dunedin, Fla., today was named the No. 1 beach in the U.S. by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, director of Florida International University’s Laboratory for Coastal Research, also known as “Dr. Beach,” who’s been picking the country’s best sandy getaways since 1991.

“The only mode of transportation on this lovely island, dominated by palm trees, is by foot over the [superfine] white sand,” said a Laboratory release. Among the highlights, besides being amazingly gorgeous: a mangrove forest, kayak trails, summerlong on-duty lifeguards (safety first) and “a great snack bar.” I’m guessing it’s also a great place to read that best-seller you grabbed at Hudson News between layovers.
The other notable beaches:
2. Hanalei Beach, Kauai, Hawaii
3. Siesta Beach, Sarasota, Fla.
4. Coopers Beach, Southampton, N.Y.
5. Coronado Beach, San Diego
6. Main Beach, East Hampton, N.Y.
7. Hamoa Beach, Maui, Hawaii
8. Cape Hatteras, Outer Banks of N.C.
9. Cape Florida State Park, Key Biscayne, Fla.
10. Beachwalker Park, Kiawah Island, S.C.
Do any of these beaches play a role in your honeymoon or destination wedding? Or your countdown to the SATC movie? We’d love to hear about it. And here’s to hoping to a summer free of flight delays. –Timothy R. Schulte
